Barrier Hops
There was a recent posting string on the JAR Yahoo Group site
asking if a rock ring would help with log over technique. Half of
the replies were in favor of the rock ring and half replied
that it was more important to "ride light".
Some key frames from one
of the Quick Time movies that I took at the recent
Team Beacon promoted
Bridgeton
NJ
stop
of the Crank
Brothers
USGP
of CycloCross illustrate the "ride light" concept at
an elite rider level. Both of this Team Maxxis/Giant (either Geoff
Kabush or Adam Craig) rider's tires
touch
the barrier while his
big ring
does
not.
As a race side note, this barrier was the second of two that were
placed immediately after a tight right hand hairpin turn. The Team
Maxxis rider
was the first in a group of four and hopped both barriers. And gained
some time as the other three riders remounted. -WhiteZombie
